Photo Business Help's 2024 Move to Substack - FAQ Guide

When I decided to halt the podcast and move to Substack, I’d recorded 430+ original episodes. I’d been doing the RSS-thing on all platforms for nearly 5 years now and decided it was time for a change.

I love the ability to bring different levels of value to folks, depending on how much you’d like to be involved. There are chat and notes features to interact with, as well as different paid subscription options.

1. Why are we moving to Substack?

Substack offers a more intimate, flexible platform for connecting with our audience. It's a place for deeper engagement and richer content.

I love the built-in community options like notes and chat.

2. What do I get with the Free Tier?

You'll get occasional free weekly newsletters.

3. What’s in the monthly subscriber tier ($5/month)?

  • Weekly emails packed with everything I’ve learned to help you start and grow a successful lifestyle photography business, plus content from 400+ episodes of the podcast.

  • This includes guides to shooting, best business practices, tips from past industry experts, PDFS, and more.

  • Get access to paid subscriber-only chats, Q&As, and 1:1 coaching with me.

  • Last week of the month: an open Q&A thread with me to answer your questions. If email is preferred, you can do that, too.

I’ll announce Q&As once a month in a newsletter (they will also show up automatically in the chat thread) that you can reply directly to and I’ll answer! One question per person, please.

If you’d like more help than that, consider becoming a founding member.

4. How do I sign up?

Simply head over to our Substack page, choose your tier, and subscribe. It's straightforward and easy.

5. Can I switch tiers if I change my mind?

Yes, you can change your subscription tier at any time to fit your needs.

Here's a basic rundown of how it works:

  1. Access your Substack account settings.

  2. Click on the paid publication you want to adjust your subscription for.

  3. There, you will find an option to change your plan. Click "Change" next to your current plan in the Subscription section.

  4. Select from the available plans that you want to switch to and confirm the change.

When you upgrade your subscription, say from an annual plan to a founding member plan, Substack charges a prorated amount. The renewal date for your subscription will also change to the date you made the upgrade. For instance, if you upgrade halfway through your annual subscription period, you'll be charged a prorated fee for the remaining period at the new rate. Your next renewal date will then be set for one year from the date of the upgrade.

6. Where can I ask more questions if I have them?

Feel free to send any further questions to helpdesk@photobusinesshelp.com, and I’ll be happy to answer them.
